Water is one of the most basic and critical resource for sustaining life and economies. The delivery of safe, reliable drinking water and the responsible handling and treatment of wastewater are major responsibilities of local government. Recent water-related experiences in Flint, MI, and Jackson, MS, highlight institutional and management challenges faced by marginalized communities. This session explores the impacts and causes for failures associated with water and wastewater utility services and identifies potential solutions, including federal programs, for addressing associated inequities.
